Setting up an SMTP server - LICIWEB V2

Today you, internet service users (for example: LICIWEB or LICIELWEB), are faced with a security problem related to sending emails, which concerns all providers such as orange, sfr, yahoo ...

Indeed, due to the increase in SPAM traffic on the internet, these providers have set up many filters. In order to send emails, they require you to authenticate.

This setting, previously optional on our platforms, is now strongly recommended.

In order to maintain a certain quality of service, you must authenticate through an SMTP server.

On LICIWEB V2:

  • 1) Go to the "Parameters / Email Management" tab and activate expert mode.
  • 2) Activate the option
  • 3) You must fill in the e-mail field in the same way as your SMTP account, (set the server, the port and the SSL or TLS protocol).
  • 4) Test the identifiers
  • 5) Save

How to configure it?

In general, when you reserve a domain name, your service provider will provide you with one or more email addresses.

If this is the case, you must find the identifiers attached to each of the email addresses. If this is not the case, the company LICIEL invites you to create a Gmail account and to configure an SMTP server as follows

The identifiers consist of:

  • the address of the SMTP server ( List of SMTP servers )
  • from the port (587, 465 or 25)
  • SSL option (optional)
  • the TLS option (optional)
  • user (email address)
  • a password (from the mailbox)

Microsoft Exchange SMTP server configuration example  :

  • SMTP server: exchange.yourdomain.fr (or the generic address smtp.office365.com in the case of an office365 account)
  • Harbor: 587
  • SSL: unchecked
  • TLS: checked
  • User: Office 365 address
  • Password: Office 365 password

Orange SMTP server configuration example :

  • SMTP server: smtp.premium.orange.fr
  • Harbor: 25
  • SSL: unchecked
  • TLS: unchecked
  • User: Orange address ( Note: do not put wanadoo.fr but orange.fr, only the identifier of your main account can be used by secondary accounts )
  • Password: Orange password
  • We invite you to test your login details on the site: https://webmail.orange-business.com/

Example of Gmail SMTP server configuration without SSL certificate:

  • SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Harbor: 587
  • SSL: unchecked
  • TLS: checked
  • User: Gmail address
  • Password: Gmail password

Then, log into your Gmail account and go to "Account Settings".

In the " Access for less secure applications " box, please select " Activate ".

If sending emails still does not work after configuring the settings, you are prompted to change your Gmail account password.

Then, do not forget to re-enter the password in the "Password" field on the LICIWEB or LICIELWEB platform .

Example of Gmail SMTP server configuration with SSL certificate:

  • SMTP server: smtp.gmail.com
  • Harbor: 465
  • SSL: checked
  • TLS: unchecked
  • User: Gmail address
  • Password: Gmail password

Then, log into your Gmail account and go to "Account Settings".

In the " Access for less secure applications " box, please select " Activate ".

If sending emails still does not work after configuring the settings, you are prompted to change your Gmail account password.

Then, do not forget to re-enter the password in the "Password" field on the LICIWEB or LICIELWEB platform .

Notes:

  • In the event that you encounter difficulties in configuring the SMTP server, the company LICIEL provides a service to assist you in this process (You are invited to contact the sales department if you are interested).
